Reflections

Reflections dives into the world the unseen and how we view ourselves. I diverted away from self portraits for this series hoping to invoke a contrast in my previous works. How do we see ourselves, and how do we see others? I wanted her to be vulnerable during this shoot, exploring her body and expression as she moved across the lens. To me, she is reaching out, diverting her energy to the “other”. There is a gentleness to her, yet she is holding space in such a powerful way. Gentleness is not to be mistaken for meekness. The broken mirror is a fractured example of the thought of being perceived, and how does that mask begin to fade away when we push ourselves to the limit.
